ABOUT THE SHOW:In the Crosshairs is a two-person sketch comedy show about hair. Yes, hair! Martha Rynberg and Thao P. Nguyen muse on the politics of personal grooming.
Have you ever wondered what your nose hairs would say if they could talk? Ever uttered "oops" while cutting your friend's hair? Want to try on 15 different pubic hair toupées? Rynberg and Nguyen explore our intimate relationships with the hair on our bodies. Toe hair, eyelashes, nipple hair -- In theCrosshairs leaves no hair unturned. Rynberg and Nguyen show incredible range. In one show, Rynberg and Nguyen's comedy seamlessly alternates from razor sharp to unapologetically slapstick. The true artistry (and comedy) of the show is in its critical exploration of how sexism, misogyny, racism, and homophobia impact how we style, groom, remove, and grow hair -- but mostly, it's fun. |
REVIEWS OF THE SHOW:"The show is phenomenal! Both crazy entertaining and so joyfully feminist in that wildly brilliant way. It will have audience members rethinking and talking about their hair and body long after the show is over." - Coke Tani, Soft Tissue "Hairy good fun! Thao and Martha take us through an international whirlwind of the hilarious and complicated world of how we deal with those fickle follicles. They do the best impersonation of individual, personalized hairs that I've ever seen. Pee-in-your-pants funny!" - Susan Ito, The Mouse Room "If the Marx Brothers were a pair of Feminist badasses who had a show about waxing, plucking, threading and lasering with Gilette-worthy wit, you'd have the hilarious two-person show, In theCrosshairs. You'll be quoting it well after the show is done. Trust me. This is not to be missed." - Zahra Noorbakhsh, "Good Muslim, Bad Muslim" "In the Crosshairs is smartly written. Thao and Martha have a gift for telling stories around the unexpected and interesting. The jokes are always clever and never predictable. I totally enjoyed the show and talked about it for hours afterwards. Beautiful!" - Amy Sueyoshi, Ph.D, Queer Compulsions |
